Additional Benefits
PTO:
PTO is given to all qualified employees as it is earned by tenure. PTO hours are earned for hours worked. GWBD believes it is imperative for all associates to take paid time off. Vacation time is proven to improve memory and physical healing, give newer perspectives, and increase productivity of associates.
PTO begins accruing immediately upon hire. However, hours earned are not available to be used until the 90- day orientation period has been met. If time off is approved during the initial 90-day orientation period, it will be considered unpaid time off and will use any accrued PTO.
Parental Leave:
To be eligible for paid Parental Leave, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be classified as a full-time employee as of the date leave is taken;
- Meet the same eligibility requirements as described in the FMLA policy; and
- After the effective date of this policy, give birth, have a spouse who gives birth, or have a child placed with you for adoption or foster care.
For additional details, please refer to the Parental Leave Policy.
GWBD’s Charitable Giving and Matching Gift Policy
GWBD believes the well-being of local communities has a direct effect on the Company’s success and that of its associates and fellow citizens. So, we take our mission to enrich lives beyond our products and into the
communities we call home. Charitable contributions come from the profits of GWBD Products, Inc. The goal is to donate at least 10% of the previous year’s profits to worthy charitable causes.
Matching Gift Donations
GWBD will match an associate’s donation if the requirements are met, and the proper form is completed. Requests are accepted and approved throughout the year. Company owners will make decisions based on
funds available and philanthropic worthiness.
Matching PTO Hours for Volunteer Hours
Associates have the opportunity to earn 8 additional hours of PTO, per year, by wearing a GWBD logo shirt while volunteering at an approved non-profit. Qualified volunteering hours are matched at 50% and limited to
2 hours of PTO per quarter. Your PTO MATCHING FOR VOLUNTEERING FORM must be turned into HR and is subject to management approval.
Short Term Leave of Absence
GWBD understands that situations may arise that require time away from work that do not constitute as FMLA or STD. GWBD will grant a temporary leave from work up to a period of up to three weeks, granted for personal, medical, or other reasons deemed appropriate by the company.
To be considered:
• Must be employed for 12 consecutive months.
• Be in good standing with the company.
• Have at least 64 hours in PTO bank.
• Complete formal request and submit at least a month before time being requested.

Automated payroll deduction with multiple benefits that include GWBD matching up to 5%, online financial education, low interest rate borrowing capability, and higher return on investment accounts. For non-exempt
employees, upon signing up and agreeing to deduct 5% of your base pay and placing it in your personal Onward Savings Account, GWBD will increase your base pay by 5%. After a three-month vesting period, GWBD will match your contributions up to 5%, making your Onward savings about 10% per pay period. Matching is conditional on your participation in GWBD’s 401K Financial “Ceiling” Plan at 5%. After 3 months tenure you are eligible to borrow up to twice what is in your Onward Savings Account, to a maximum of $2,000.
Onward Savings Account Balances will be checked monthly at a minimum. GWBD employees have 9 months from their start date with Onward to obtain $1,000 in their Onward Savings Account to continue receiving
GWBD’s 5% match. Below is GWBD’s matching schedule should your Onward Savings Account drop below $1,000: Account Balance GWBD’s Match of your 5% Deposit.
Bereavement leave is given to all qualified employees. GWBD recognizes the importance of family and the difficult time that employees experience following the loss of a loved one. When a death occurs in your immediate family, you may qualify for up to three days of paid bereavement leave. The term “immediate family” includes an employee’s:
• Parent, stepparent, legal guardian, or parent-in-law
• Current spouse or significant other
• Child, stepchild, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law (including miscarriage of an employee’s unborn child)
• Grandparent or grandchild
• Sibling
“Immediate family” does not include any “in-law” of a former spouse or of a spouse from whom you are separated in law or in fact.
Employees who desire additional time off after exhausting paid bereavement leave may request PTO if they have any available. If they don’t have any PTO leave, they may request additional unpaid leave from their manager, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The Education Reimbursement Plan reimburses qualified employees (prorated for part-time employees) for college or trade school tuition expenses if the employee follows the guidelines in this policy. Some portion of your educational reimbursement may be considered taxable wages under IRS regulations.
GWBD Operations encourages the spiritual, mental, and physical development of employees. In order to promote the education and self-improvement of employees, GWBD Operations has adopted the following policy:
A) GWBD Operations will only reimburse the amounts stated in this policy.
B) GWBD Operations must approve all classes taken before the tuition is eligible for reimbursement. The classes must be approved by a company owner before any reimbursement will be made.
C) Each associate must apply for Pell grants and applicable state and merit scholarships. These applications are typically due to the schools several months in advance of the semester when courses begin and will include a FAFSA application in all cases.
D) GWBD Operations will not pay for any amount of tuition expense that has already been covered by grants or scholarships. However, if grants or scholarships are received, GWBD will reimburse 25% of the amount saved from these opportunities.
E) GWBD Operations will pay tuition up to the current charge per credit hour at state funded universities (i.e. for the Fall 2024 semester at UMKC the current amount is $313.90 per credit hour for undergraduate work and $423.00 per credit hour for graduate level work). GWBD will cover tuition and books at the following levels:
F) GWBD Operations will only cover tuition for classes that have been completed.
G) The employee must be employed at GWBD Operations during the entire semester and at the time the reimbursement is made.
H) Resignation or discharge automatically terminates eligibility for benefits under this policy. In addition, any employee who resigns or is discharged is required to refund any monies received within the previous 12 months of the termination date. The reimbursement check date will be the date used as the distribution date of monies.
I) GWBD Operations must receive all receipts for any tuition expense and book expense from employees before reimbursement will be made. Reimbursement will only be on Friday’s, after the receipts are reviewed. The payment will be made to either the school or the loan company, unless otherwise worked out and approved before classes start.
